Breezometer Air Quality Meter, Tested in Taipei
Breezometer air quality app http://www.mobilegeeks.com There is a lot to love about Taipei, delicious nightmarkets, friendly people and though the mountains are in plain sights pretty much everywhere you look the city is incredibly flat, so I cycle to get around. Over the past few years I’ve started noticing that the air isn’t a fresh as it used to be. At CES I ran into this Israel start up has an app that’s able to tell me the air quality in different parts of the city. In real time I’m able to tell what the air quality looks like on my ride to work, or even which part I should go for a run in, here you can see that the air quality is better at SunYatSen Memorial while Daan park, the central park of taipei has much worse air quality. Taipei is a very smartcity, low imact public transportation, bike lanes and the Taipei 101 is the worlds tallest green building. When it comes to urban planning Breezometer is more useful than just being able to figure out which parts of the city have the best air quality. Smart City leaders will be able to spot patterns in traffic and pollution that could lead to actionable solutions reducing a city’s carbon footprint and reduce congestion. Thanks so much for taking the time to learn a bit about Taipei and how to track air quality in your city.
